Founded in 2006 in Monterrey, Mexico by Lorena Junco de Margain and Silvia P. Morton, Distrito 14’s mission is to promote art while distancing itself from the established paradigms of local galleries that seem to have a sole commercial focus. Through it’s different ventures such as Contemporary Art Forums, Design Markets, Gastronomic art experiences, non-academic art school Grupo Arte Contemporaneo, art project fundings and Museum Counselor of SUNMART Museum in Villa Juarez, Nuevo Leon, Distrito 14 has ingrained a strong social responsibility.

Distrito 14, has labored to elevate the experience of enjoying art by creating a higher order, meaningful and wholesome connection between young artists and emerging art collectors; one in which art, in its humanistic condition and purest form, transcends a mere commercial encounter by adding a different dimension to its enjoyment and appreciation. Distrito 14 passionately believes that art should be a manifestation of the enduring relationship between the artist and the collector, and not simply a one-time transaction.

Drawing from this humanistic perspective, Distrito 14 aims to introduce to Europe an alternative route for groundbreaking, fair trade art from Mexico.
